The Korean film Memoir of a Murderer (2017) was directed by Won Shin-yun and is a delightful thriller that keeps you guessing, even after the movie’s end. The plot line is about a serial killer (Sol Kyung-gu), whose dementia has him confused as to what is real and what isn’t. He uses a tape recorder to remind himself of moments. When he meets his daughter’s (Kim Seol Hyun) new boyfriend (Nam-gil Kim), he realizes they have a dark commonality and finds himself scrambling to save her before it’s too late.
The story is based on Kim Young-ha’s book: A Murderer’s Guide to Memorization. Won Shin-yun and Hwang Jo-yun wrote the screenplay.
